Bouygues Immobilier has laid the foundation stone of the future Orange retail park, incorporating Europe's biggest photovoltaic power plant - 27 May 2009

Porte Sud retail park in Orange in the presence of François Mariani, President of the Vaucluse Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jacques Bompard, mayor of Orange and a member of the departmental council.

Designed by Outsign Architecture, the project is organised along classic and elegant lines, blending in perfectly with the surrounding vines. The complex comprises four buildings with a panoramic view of the neighbouring vineyard.

Located on a 10-hectare (25-acre) site, Orange Porte Sud will open in March 2010. With net floor area of 31,630 sq metres, the retail park will host some fifty stores disposed around a 1,200-space car park. 37 retailers have already signed leases, including Casa, C&A, Kiabi, Jardiland, Celio, Bouygues Telecom, Caisse d'Epargne and Chausséa.
Orange Porte Sud will showcase Bouygues Immobilier's know-how and commitment to sustainable development, since it will house Europe's biggest photovoltaic power plant incorporated into a public building. More than 12,000 photovoltaic panels distributed over the 27,000 sq metres of roof will generate 2.5 GWh a year, equivalent to the annual domestic power consumption of a town with 3,500 inhabitants. A contract has been concluded with Aerowatt for the construction and future management of the power plant.

The construction of the retail park in Orange is an economic opportunity for the Upper Vaucluse region. Bouygues Immobilier and the employment agency Pôle Emploi have therefore teamed up to promote local employment and help retailers looking for staff.
Orange Porte Sud is the result of fruitful cooperation between Bouygues Immobilier, Aerowatt, the Vaucluse Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the city of Orange.
