Bouygues Immobilier was awarded two Pyramides de Vermeil (second prizes) in the national round of the Pyramides d'Or competition at the congress of the French Developers and Builders Federation.
The prizes are awarded for the best new buildings in France on the basis of stringent criteria relating to technical skill, architectural design, quality of life and innovation in construction.
The two Pyramides de Vermeil were awarded to Bouygues Immobilier for its Rive d'Ô and Campagne Elisabeth programmes.
• Rive d'Ô in Besançon (south-eastern France) won the Natural Living prize sponsored by Gaz Réseau Distribution France. Designed by the architect firm Atelier Thierry Roche, the 68-unit apartment building will use solar panels to produce heat and domestic hot water. It will also have a shared condensing boiler that will reduce both energy consumption and common charges.
• Campagne Elisabeth in La Valette du Var (southern France) won the Blue Sky prize sponsored by EDF. The project, which comprises 57 apartments in three buildings, was designed by Cabinet Rosello. A solar-powered domestic hot water system will generate substantial energy savings, reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 5 tonnes a year.
In the regional round of the Pyramides d'Argent, Bouygues Immobilier was awarded three first prizes.
• Kanopé in Nantes (western France) comprises 120 apartments, including 39 social housing units. and business premises totalling 840 sq. metres in five buildings located in the new Euronantes Gare district. The project, in a densely populated area, has been designed to promote social diversity.
• Carré Barrio in Toulouse (south western France) is a 50-apartment development with Habitat & Environment certification in the heart of the up-and-coming new Ponts Jumeaux district. A high-quality project, its features include private gardens or terraces and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
• L'Atria in Bordeaux (south western France) is a mixed-use project designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc and located in the new Coeur de Bastide district. It comprises 108 apartments with Habitat & Environment certification and 1,350 sq. metres of shops and offices.
Together with the Eden Square project in Lille (northern France), a 51-unit development including 6 houses designed by Cabinet Hondelatte-Laporte, Carré Barrio and Atria won the Sustainable Housing prize sponsored by Caisse des Dépôts for the most innovative residential developments.
Bouygues Immobilier also won two prizes for commercial developments, one for L'Angle, a 5,800-sq.-metre project in Marseille (southern France), and one for Irisium, a 9,900-sq.-metre project in Lille (northern France). Designed by Jacques Ferrier, an architect renowned for his commitment to sustainable development, Irisium is the first commercial building in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region to obtain HQE (High Environmental Quality) certification.
