Residential property: Bouygues Immobilier is anticipating the regulatory changes that will affect the property business
The environment is a key concern for Bouygues Immobilier. That is why the company is already getting ready for the new requirements that will come into force in 2013 (the BBC low-energy building standard) and 2020 (positive-energy buildings). Bouygues Immobilier intends to become a standard-setter during the transition phase.
From 1 July 2010, all building permit applications will include a request for BBC low-energy certification. Over 6,000 low-energy properties will be on offer this year alone.
Commercial property: innovating to prepare for the recovery
The company has been building green offices for several years. Already anticipating the trend of the commercial property market, the movement was amplified in 2009 with the development of the company's first positive-energy building projects and the launch of Rehagreen®, an innovative approach to the rehabilitation of existing buildings.
Highlights of 2009:
- start of construction work on the first Green Office® in Meudon;
- granting of a building permit for a second Green Office® in Nanterre;
- delivery of Galeo, Bouygues Immobilier's new corporate headquarters, for which the company was awarded a Pyramide d'Argent in the Corporate Property awards organised by the French Developers and Builders Federation;
- delivery of Bouygues Telecom's Technical Centre, a very high energy-efficiency building.
Retail parks: ambitious projects
Bouygues Immobilier designs and develops environment-friendly retail parks of high architectural quality in France and Europe, meeting the needs of retailers, consumers and local authorities.
Outstanding achievements in 2009 included:
- inauguration of the 32,000-sq.-m. Orange Les Vignes retail park which, with its 12,000 solar panels, incorporates Europe's largest photovoltaic power plant in a public building;
-
inauguration in November 2009 of a 120,000-sq.-m. shopping centre at Guimarães in Portugal;
-
future delivery of the Aqua Portimao shopping centre in southern Portugal.
Urban development: sustainable neighbourhoods
Drawing on its sustainable development expertise, Bouygues Immobilier goes beyond the traditional range of the property development business. Extending its know-how to entire neighbourhoods, it takes all aspects of sustainable development into account, including quality of life, social diversity, mixed usage, preservation of biodiversity, energy-efficient building, etc.
