How much could you borrow under the PTZ scheme?

The amount of PTZ available for a new-build purchase varies depending on the number of people occupying the property and the property location.

Maximum amount

In 2010, this will also depend on the date on which the interest-free mortgage is issued. Until 30 June, the interest-free mortgage amount is double that for 2008, but after 1 July, that increase will fall to 50%.

The maximum level of loan

When buying a new-build property, the amount of PTZ has two different maximum levels. It cannot exceed the lower of the 2 amounts calculated as follows:

  • 30% of the cost of your purchase (subject to the maximum transaction limits shown in the table below), rising to 40% in tax-free urban areas (Zone Franche Urbaine or ZFU) and urban regeneration areas (Zone Urbaine Sensible or ZUS)
  • the total amount of other loans of over 2 years’ duration contracted for the property purchase (bank loan, 1% home loan, etc.)
